Auditions, competitions and exams achieve achievements.
Drama JunXion has had much success with exams, auditions and competitions.
2019: Two students competed at the NEA Young Performers Competition and both competed up to the semi final round. In September two students will be taking their Trinity College of London, Grade 6, Speech and Drama exams; 3 students will be auditioning for IMTA (International Models and Talent Search). In October students will be competing at the National Eisteddfod in the following categories: Monologues (dramatic and comedic), poetry, improvisation, prepared reading, poetry group performance, Sesotho poetry small group performance (5 year olds).
2018:
At the NEA Young artist Awards we won the following items: Musawenkosu - Medal winner Zulu poetry and Category winner Speech and Drama African Languages; Tumelo - Medal winner and Category winner for English Monologues - Dramatic; Katherine - Item winner One man Show - Monologue, for English Dramatic Monologue Grade 3.
At the National Eisteddfod students competed in the following categories: Monologues - 4 Diplomas; Poetry - 3 Diplomas, 4 Gold; Public Speaking: 1 Gold. Three students were invited to compete at the the NEA Young Performers Competition, the students 2 students made it through to the quarterfinals and one through to the 2nd round. In January one of our students competed at the IMTA Provincial round to win a trip to the IMTA National round cruise, he received a medal. On the cruise they will perform in front of American talent agents and scouts and stand a chance to win a trip to the IMTA World Championships in the USA later in the year.
2017:
Thus far 2017 has been a successful year. Two of our students went to New York and Florida, USA and competed at the ARTS World Championship with international talent agent Kim Meyers. One of our students was cast in a speaking role for a Television advert. We had an adult student who audition for IATS and she was invited to compete at the National round later this year. All students who competed at the National Eisteddfod under Drama JunXion obtained Diplomas; for four of our students it was their 1st time competing at Eisteddfod. All of our students who auditioned for IMTA were invited to compete at the national round in front of international talent agents in 2018.
Thamsa Ngwaxaxa took his first Trinity College of London Exam in October this year and he scored 88% for his Grade 7 exam (the last level for this exam is Grade 8).
2016:
This was a very successful year for the Drama JunXion students. One of our students competed at the SA Champs provincial round and qualified to compete at the National round in Brits where she received good feed back for her performances for her monologues in the following categories - Dramatic, Comedic, Classical, Contemporary.
Six of our students were sent to audition at IATS and all six students were invited to compete at the IATS National round. At the IATS National round 5 of the 6 students performed in front of International Talent Scout Kim Meyers and she invited all of them to compete at the Arts International Talent Showcase in Orlando Florida, USA in 2017.
At Eisteddfod our students obtained 6 Diplomas and 2 Gold Certificates, none of our students got a Silver or Bronze Certificate.
Our student who went to compete at the SATCH National round came back with two Gold and two Silver medals.
Two of our students auditioned for National School of the Arts and both were accepted.
The lowest mark a student obtained for the Trinity College of London Exam was 80%, all other students receiver 85% or above.
Three of our students competed at IMTA and they all three received certificates for their performance at the provincial round and all of them were invited to compete at the IMTA National round in front of Talent Scouts from the USA, one of the students received a medal for her performance at the provincial round - this students is hearing impaired and she competed for the 1st time at Eisteddfod this year and received a Gold certificate competing against hearing able competitors, she was also selected to go to the USA to compete at ARTS 2017 and she scored 86% for her Trinity Exam, it was her 1st time taking the exam.
2015:
One of our students auditioned for the Disney Variety Show and she was cast in the show. The director commended her on how professional her audition was.
